26th Annual World Pumpkin Weigh-Off

The eyes of the world will be on Clarence Saturday, October 4th as growers worldwide await news on the World Pumpkin Confederation 26th Weigh-Off.  We begin at 10am.  The winners will be announced at 12noon and prizes will be awarded to the growers who bring the three largest Pumpkins to the Great Pumpkin Farm Weigh-Off.

I wasn't sure we could grow a 500 pound pumpkin when we first started talking about a 1,000 pounder in 1986.  Ten years later we had the first one right here at the 1996 Great Pumpkin Farm Fall Festival, 1,061 pounds and it went right into the Guinness Book of World records.  A decade later we have had lots more 1,000 pound pumpkins here and at other locations around the world, some over 1,500 pounds.  Who knows, this might be the year when we see a 1,600 pound pumpkin.

I want to be here for that day, and I'll bet you do too.  That's just one great reason for you to join us at the Great Pumpkin Farm Fall Festival.  Enjoy family fun here every day seven days a week thru Halloween.  It's all part of our region's largest family festival.  It gives me great pleasure to be a part of this wonderful event and to invite you to join us.

Ray Waterman, founder and President of the World Pumpkin Confederation
